Where is DSL available? If a particular city "has" DSL, can everyone in that city get DSL service?
Where and when DSL is available is controlled entirely by the phone company (Qwest). The Southern Utah areas that have DSL available are: St. George, Cedar City, & Hurricane. More Utah cities will be getting DSL soon. Qwest's planned dates for DSL availablilty can be seen here. (Please note that InfoWest has NO control over the proposed dates since they are controlled and presented by Qwest.)
DSL Service is limited to those phone lines that "qualify". In other words, not all customers in a particular city can get DSL. "Qualification" for DSL is made by the telephone company. InfoWest as a Qwest partner, can help you find out if you can get DSL.
Some limitations to DSL are:
- You must live within a specified distance from the main telephone office in a particular area.
- Your phone line must be free of certain conditions, like Fiber-optic to copper coversions. (Qwest makes that determination.)
