10 Tips for Building a Gaming Computer

Are you an avid gamer looking to build a gaming computer? Check out these 10 tips that can make your process go a little bit smoother. 

1. Set a budget- Before beginning, it is important to create a budget of how much you are willing to spend to build a gaming computer. This can limit your options for parts purchased and make the process smoother. 
2. Build around what you're going to play- For example, if all you play is Peggle or Solitaire, you probably don't need ultra high end parts. Find parts that are going to meet your gaming needs.
3. Don't worry about brand- When building a gaming computer, your sole focus shouldn’t be worrying about the brand, but instead getting what's within your budget with the best warranty and reviews.
4. Find used options- If you're on a tight budget but still want high performance, it may be worth looking at used options. Some of these options could include looking at Facebook Marketplace (ignoring the scalpers), eBay (sometimes), or other people in your circle that may have spare parts that will work for what you need. 
5. Don't cheap out on the power supply unit- While the power supply unit can get expensive at higher wattages, it's one thing you shouldn't be cheaping out on. The PSU is essentially the heart of the build, pushing electricity to all the parts in the computer. A bad PSU may fry your components, which could lead to an expensive and tedious repair/replacement/warranty process.
6. Use PCPartPicker- This is a tool available that can help you plan out building your gaming computer or find parts. 
7. DDR5 is the top- When considering the type of RAM (random access memory) to purchase, the DDR5 (Double Data Rate) is the better RAM than the DDR4, which is much better than the DDR3.
8. Ensure proper cooling space- It is also important to consider that the computer has the proper cooling space. High performance PCs generate lots of heat.
9. Use M2 SSDs Preferably- M2 SSDs are better than SATA SSDs which are better than HDDs
10. Market research your CPU/GPU- Sometimes the latest isn't always greatest, which is why it's always important to research your central processing unit (CPU) and graphic processing unit (GPU).
