InfoWest Partners with Habitat for Humanity

This past weekend, InfoWest had the opportunity of joining forces with an incredible non-profit organization, Habitat for Humanity, to help build a brighter future for a deserving family in Southern Utah. Our employees spent the day painting walls in what will soon be a beautiful, move-in-ready home — an effort that meant a lot to Kristal Hurst, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Southern Utah, as they work to complete the organization’s 26th home.

A Meaningful Partnership

As a proud sponsor of this home build, InfoWest is excited to play a role in providing a safe and affordable living space for a local family in need. Kristal Hurst shared, “We’re building a single-family home for an incredible family who otherwise couldn’t afford a traditional mortgage. This home will be fully handicapped accessible, ensuring the family can live comfortably and independently.”

Habitat for Humanity has been a key part of the Southern Utah community for 26 years, and the completion of this 26th home is a testament to the organization's commitment to improving the lives of local families. However, Habitat's work goes far beyond construction; they’re also a powerful voice for affordable housing advocacy and a helping hand to those in need.

Affordable Housing: Not a Gift, But an Investment

What makes Habitat for Humanity’s approach unique is that the homes they build are not free gifts — families invest in their new homes by paying a mortgage that is 30% of their income. “We want our homeowners to feel empowered,” says Hurst. “They should have the ability to change jobs, go back to school, or make decisions that will help them thrive without the constant worry of whether they’ll have a safe place to call home.”

Supporting the Community Beyond Homebuilding

While building homes is Habitat for Humanity’s core mission, the organization helps the community in a handful of other ways. They offer home repairs for families who can’t afford them, build handicap ramps and rails for the elderly and disabled, and provide support to vulnerable people, such as veterans, single mothers, and victims of domestic abuse. From installing Ring doorbells for added security to replacing locks, Habitat ensures these families feel safe and supported in their own homes.

“We have so many in our community who can’t afford rent or a mortgage, and that’s simply not right,” Hurst said. “Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to live.”

Building Connections, One Home at a Time

At InfoWest, we believe that connection is about more than just the internet — it’s about community. We’re proud to partner with organizations that bring hope and stability to our neighbors in Southern Utah.
