He left to learn the trade elsewhere, then came home to InfoWest.

Jonathan VanDeberg is a network administrator at InfoWest, but he took the long way back. He joined in 2019 as a support ops technician, fresh out of Utah Tech University, and spent six months learning the trade before an airline hired him onto its IT team as a systems support administrator.

Jonathan sits at a desk of dual monitors and a laptop, turning to the camera with a thumbs up and a smile.

The move paid off, and he credits his managers for the send-off. They taught him how to troubleshoot and to keep learning, skills he carried into the airline and used to help his new coworkers. A year later, he came home.

“Coming back to InfoWest was one of the best decisions I made,” Jonathan said. The skills still applied, and he keeps learning something new every day. He values how the company treats its people: “They do the right thing simply because it’s the right thing.”

Leaving taught him the trade from another angle; returning taught him where he belonged. “Each new day is an adventure…,” he said. Looking back, he figures he had his dream company all along. “But coming home to InfoWest felt like a family reunion.”
